Charities and Community Involvement
CapEd supports a number of charities and other organizations within our community and encourages our members and staff to do the same. We present several opportunities for people to put the credit union's philosophy of "People Helping People" to work.
Some of these causes and their goals include:
- Children's Miracle Network/Credit Unions for Kids - raises funds for St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise.
- Operation Wish Book - raises awareness of illiteracy and donates books to families that cannot afford them.
- American Red Cross - serves blood donors and hospitals throughout the U.S. Blood is supplied to local hospitals first and extra blood not used locally is available to ship to other parts of the country through the American Red Cross national inventory system.
- United Way - improves lives in southwestern Idaho by motivating the community's passion, resources, and caring.
- Treasure Valley Reading Foundation - promotes that every child should be read to 20 minutes each day and that children are reading at grade-level upon completion of the third grade.
- Project PATCH - dedicated to helping youth by providing a residential treatment facility for at-risk youth ages 12 to 17. PATCH stands for Planned Assistance for Trouble CHildren. Project PATCH has recently teamed up with Project REcell to recycle used cell phones and PDA's to raise funds for at-risk youth and at the same time help the environment.
We would like to say THANK YOU to all our generous members and staff who spent their own money and/or time helping out these wonderful causes. We hope you will watch for opportunities to give and that you will consider giving generously to those who need your help.
