CapEd, Capital Educators Federal Credit Union, awarded its second $750 February Teacher Grant of the Month to Andrea Arnold of Caldwell High School. Arnold will use the grant to produce Cougar Tracks, a literary magazine that will showcase students’ artistic and literary work.
“This project will encourage students from all walks of life to work together to create something that can be enjoyed by the entire student body,” says Arnold. Literary and artistic work will be collected from the student body, and Arnold’s Creative Writing class will edit and produce the magazine. Aside from the school yearbook, this will be the only school-wide publication.
Arnold is constantly trying to broaden students’ minds and creativity. With this project she hopes to start a tradition that can continue for years to come and will recognize and honor students who may not otherwise receive the attention they deserve.
Todd Erickson, CEO of CapEd, said “The grant program is designed to give teachers a wide variety of opportunities to bring new teaching tools, activities, and materials directly to the students. The expansion of the program to three grants per month this year gives us the opportunity to help teachers achieve their education goals at the classroom level.”
All teachers in the CapEd membership area are eligible to apply. Details of the Teacher Grant of the Month program are available online at www.CapEdfcu.org. For further information, email Kathy Palumbo at kathy@capedfcu.org.
The deadline for Teacher of the Month grant applications is the 10th of every month through April 2010.
