Jan Ward

Jan Ward of the Garden Valley Middle School has been named the CapEd, Capital Educators Federal Credit Union, Teacher Grant winner for April in the Teacher of the Month program in the small school category and was awarded a $750.00 grant to purchase math materials to help her teach 6th graders the3 more abstract and difficult concepts.

Ward said the new “Moving with Math” materials will help alleviate 6th graders frustration with fractions, decimals and percents. (more…)

Amy McBryde

Amy McBryde of Ola School in the Emmet School District has been named the CapEd, Capital Educators Federal Credit Union, Teacher Grant winner for April in the Teacher of the Month program in the large school category and was awarded a $750.00 grant to help her put in gardens and a greenhouse for the K-6 elementary school.

McBryde says the gardens will supplement many aspects of the curriculum while giving students ownership of their environment. “The children will be able to watch each year as their projects expand and become more complex along with their own abilities and interests,” said McBryde. “A project like this, by nature, enforces the idea of long reaching sustainability.” (more…)
